[ARCHIVED] Two Wanted Fugitives Apprehended

On November 1, 2017, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) apprehended Juan A. Padilla, 24, of the 2000 block of Dugdale Road, North Chicago.  Padilla had an active felony arrest warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (Class 3 Felony), Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony), Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver (Class 3 Felony), and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (Class 4 Felony), with a bond of $100,000 (warrant from a North Chicago Police Department investigation).

Warrants Team members developed information showing Padilla was inside a room at a motel in the area of Green Bay Road and Washington Street, Waukegan.  Padilla refused to exit the room and the Warrants Team made entry.  They found Padilla inside the room with cannabis and drug paraphernalia.  He was arrested without incident and charged with additional counts of Possession of Cannabis (Misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor).

Padilla remains held at the Lake County Jail on $150,000.00 bail.  He is next due in court on November 7, 2017 at 9:00AM in courtroom C-120.

On October 27, 2017, a Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to a traffic safety detail in the area of Route 45 and Washington Street, Third Lake, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation, and because the passenger was not wearing his seatbelt.  The Sheriff’s Deputy determined the passenger, Edgar J. Chaveste, 27, of Anaheim, California, was wanted by the California Department of Corrections on a no-bond parole violation warrant.

Chaveste was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail where he remains held without bail, pending an extradition hearing.  He is due in court on November 3, 2017 at 9:00AM in courtroom C-120.

Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
