On October 27, 2017, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office saved the 25th life this year to opioid overdose.
At approximately 11:44PM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a parking lot in the 20500 block of North Rand Road, Deer Park, for a report of an overdose. When Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, they found a 23 year-old man unconscious and not breathing inside of a vehicle, in the passenger seat. The other occupants in the vehicle informed Sheriff’s Deputies that the man injected heroin and lost consciousness.
Sheriff’s Deputies administered Naloxone; the man regained consciousness and began breathing again. He was transported to a local hospital for assessment.
Sheriff Mark Curran said, “It’s clear we are in the midst of an opioid epidemic – and our statistics prove this. This year alone, we’ve saved the lives of 25 people to opioid overdose. In 2016 we saved the lives of 13 people and in 2015 we saved 11 lives. We want the community to know – if you are in need of help, just ask!
