On October 24, 2017, at approximately 7:38AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 36900 block of North Corona Drive, unincorporated Lake Villa, for a structure fire.  

When Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, they located smoke coming from the northwest side of the residence.  Members of the Lake Villa Fire Protection District located the homeowner, a 56 year-old man, deceased in a bedroom of the residence.

Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives, in conjunction with the Lake Villa Fire Protection District, Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal, and Lake County Coroner’s Office are conducting the ongoing investigation.  Preliminary investigation indicates this is not a suspicious fire, and possibly accidental.  

The Lake County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on the victim this afternoon.
