[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested After Selling Drugs, Attempting to Sell Gun to Undercover Gang Task Force Detective

The Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force concluded a long-term investigation, which resulted in the arrest of Travaris J. Knox, 23, of the 2000 block of Grove Avenue, North Chicago.  Knox is a documented street gang member.  


During the investigation, Knox sold crack cocaine and attempted to sell a firearm to an undercover Gang Task Force Detective.  Following the investigation, on October 3, 2017, Knox was arrested by members of the Sheriff’s Gang Task Force and Sheriff’s Warrants Team, in the 1800 block of North Sheridan Road, Waukegan.  During a subsequent search of Knox’s residence, he was found to be in possession of another firearm.


Knox was subsequently charged with:

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Class 1 Felony)

Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Gang Member (Class 2 Felony)

Two Counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felonies)

Possession of a Defaced Firearm (Class 3 Felony)

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony)


Knox remains held at the Lake County Jail on $100,000.00 bail.  He is next due in court on October 31, 2017 at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.


Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
