Sheriff Curran assembled the Recruitment Team to better connect with the next generation of law enforcement candidates who are needed to fill positions as Correctional Officers, Court Security Officers, Sheriff’s Deputies, and support staff.
Sheriff Mark Curran and his executive staff forecasted the need to begin extensive recruitment, as many Sheriff’s Office positions are becoming available due to many factors. Some of the factors include, the County Board approving seven new Correctional Officer positions, an anticipated need for additional Court Security Officers with the opening of the new court tower, and many pending retirements.
Sheriff Curran said, “We want to ensure our personnel encompass a broad range of diversity, which is reflective of the community we serve. Our goal is to identify exceptional candidates in the community who represent and display the core values of the Lake County Sheriff Office; integrity, respect, and professionalism.”
While every employee is expected to be an ambassador of the Sheriff’s Office, the recruiters will receive training on accreditation standards, the recruitment policy, benefit information, and how to direct interested persons toward applying. In addition, members of the Recruitment Team may be featured on promotional advertising, social media, and sent to recruiting based events across the region to connect with those interested in law-enforcement career opportunities.
“We’ve assembled a great team of employees on the Recruitment Team who are not only representative of our diverse county, but we’ve identified those who are experienced, service oriented, and successful connecting with others. Sheriff’s Office recruiters will include both prior and active members from elite military units, employees with master’s and law degrees, prior college athletes, and people who are driven. I’m looking forward to seeing the great candidates we recruit on our quest to become the premier Sheriff’s Office in the nation,” said Sheriff Curran.
