On July 23, 2017 at approximately 7:10PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to West Everett Street and Cornell Road, Beach Park, for a bicyclist struck by a vehicle.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 30 year-old man of Beach Park, was traveling westbound on Everett Street.  The bicyclist, ridden by an 8 year-old girl, of Zion, was riding her bicycle in the roadway, in the same area.  The Chevrolet and bicyclist collided and the girl was ejected from the bicycle.

The girl was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries.  The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
