On July 13, 2017 at approximately 8:40PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 36600 block of North James Drive, unincorporated Lake Villa, for a stabbing.  When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found a 38 year-old man who was stabbed several times on the head, neck, face, and arms.  The offender fled prior to the arrival of sheriff’s deputies.  The victim was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.

Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the scene and commenced an immediate investigation.  Through further investigation, it was determined the victim was stabbed by his roommate, Joshua W. Marksberry, 31, also of the 36600 block of North James Drive.  The stabbing occurred after an argument between the two men.

On July 14th, sheriff’s detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Marksberry for one count of Attempt First Degree Murder (Class X Felony) and one count of Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm (Class 3 Felony) - $3,000,000.00 bond.

Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) began efforts to apprehend Marksberry.  The Warrants Team developed information indicating Marksberry was eluding capture by staying at different friends’ homes.  The Warrants Team located Marksberry driving a landscaping vehicle on July 21st.  Still under surveillance, the Warrants Team observed Marksberry park the vehicle in a driveway in the 15000 block of West Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, and subsequently arrested him without incident.  

Marksberry remains held in the Lake County Jail on $3,000,000.00 bail.  He is next due in court on August 8, 2017 at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.
