Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies issued 85 citations during the recent Independence Day traffic safety campaign. Of those citations, 42 seat belt tickets were written during day and nighttime patrols.
“The best protection in an auto crash is wearing a seatbelt,” said Sheriff Mark Curran. “Unfortunately, all too often we see those who didn’t buckle up seriously or critically injured when involved in a traffic crash. Please remember when riding in a vehicle, buckle up - it just might save your life!”
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state in the Illinois Independence Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” traffic safety initiative.
The initiative, part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns, was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
