[ARCHIVED] Lake Villa Man Arrested for Supplying Fatal Dose of Heroin

On June 15, 2017, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force arrested Glenn E. Trauthwein, 35, of the 100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, Lake Villa, for drug induced homicide (class X felony) and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (class 2 felony).

On March 3, 2017, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the 18700 block of West Highfield Drive, unincorporated Gurnee, for a report of an unresponsive woman. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found Collen J. Todorovic, 33, unconscious and not breathing. Deputies determined Todorovic was likely suffering an opioid overdose and administered Naloxone, while attempting life-saving measures. The life-saving attempt was unsuccessful and Todorovic was pronounced deceased.

Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force commenced a long-term investigation which revealed Trauthwein was responsible for supplying heroin to Todorovic. The heroin sold by Trauthwein ultimately led to Todorovic’s death. At the completion of the investigation, a $750,000.00 arrest warrant was issued for Trauthwein. He was arrested without incident at his residence on June 15th.

Trauthwein remains held at the Lake County Jail on $750,000.00 bail. He is next due in court on July 6, 2017 a 1:30PM, in courtroom C-120.

Sheriff Mark Curran said, “This is yet another tragic example of the effect heroin has in our community. The Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force will continue making it a top-priority identifying and arresting drug dealers who choose to sell these poisons on our streets, while we continue educating our youth on the catastrophic consequences of drug abuse.”

Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
