The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce Detective Vince Ramirez was recently awarded the “SEDOL Certificate of Recognition.” The award was presented by Special Education District of Lake County Superintendent, Dr. Thomas Moline. Over the last five years, Detective Ramirez has been the SEDOL School Resource Officer. Detective Ramirez received the award due to his outstanding support of SEDOL programs over the years.
Recently, Detective Ramirez organized an event, working with SEDOL students and staff, to raise money for the Special Olympics. With the assistance of students, staff, and other members of the sheriff’s office, Detective Ramirez’s efforts raised over $1,200.00 for the Special Olympics.
Dr. Thomas Moline said, “Detective Ramirez’s ability to develop supportive and caring relationships with students (and their families) was noted as a contributing factor in bettering the lives of several students served in SEDOL classroom programs every school year.”
Sheriff Mark Curran said, “We are extremely proud of Detective Ramirez for his continued service and dedication as a school resource officer. Detective Ramirez spends a great deal of time and effort building relationships with students, parents, and school staff. He has earned the trust and respect of those he serves at SEDOL.”
In addition to having a full-time school resource officer assigned to SEDOL, a part-time school resource officer is assigned to Beach Park Middle School during the school year.
