[ARCHIVED] Fugitive Apprehended and Found in Possession of Guns, Drugs

ACOSTA

On April 19, 2017 members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) apprehended Raymundo Acosta, 27, of the 38400 block of North Sheridan Road, Beach Park.


Acosta was wanted on a $250,000.00 failure to appear arrest warrant for four counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, delivery of cannabis, and battery (warrant from a Waukegan Police investigation).


Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team, USMS-GLRFTF, and Waukegan Police developed information Acosta was staying at a mobile home in the 38400 block of North Sheridan Road, Beach Park. He was located and arrested by the three agencies at the above address.


Members of the sheriff’s warrants team along with sheriff’s canine Dax found Acosta to be in possession of four loaded firearms, over 20 grams of cocaine, and cannabis. He was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (class X felony), unlawful possession of a controlled substance (class 1 felony), and four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (class 2 felonies).


Acosta remains held at the Lake County Jail on $2,000,000.00 bail. His next court date is May 8, 2017 at 10:30AM in courtroom C-120.


Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
