[ARCHIVED] Waukegan Exchange Club Honors Command Officer and Deputy of the Year

On April 11, 2017, the Waukegan Exchange Club held their annual police, fire, and sheriff awards ceremony. Sergeant James McKinney, Sergeant Gianni Giamberduca, and Sergeant Chris Dador were nominated for Command Officer of the Year. Deputy Thomas Zawojski and Detective Kevin Harris were nominated for Deputy of the Year. The Waukegan Exchange Club selected Sergeant Dador as Command Officer of the Year and Detective Harris as Deputy of the Year.

Sergeant Dador has served with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office since 1997. He began his career as a sheriff’s deputy and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2012. Sergeant Dador currently serves as a Highway Patrol supervisor while overseeing the Lake County Sheriff’s Honor Guard. In 2016, he coordinated 12 Honor Guard events, which included nine line-of-duty police funerals. Sergeant Dador is also the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Peer Support Coordinator, where he provides assistance to any of his coworkers in need.

Detective Harris began his career with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in 2006, after serving another local community as a police officer. In 2007, Detective Harris was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division, where he’s been the lead investigator in countless criminal investigations. In 2016, Detective Harris was lead investigator in a predatory criminal sexual assault investigation. He spent countless hours conducting a detailed investigation, seeking justice for the juvenile victim. Following the investigation, Detective Harris arrested the offender who was subsequently charged with 18 counts of sexually related crimes.

Sheriff Mark Curran said, “Sergeant Dador, Detective Harris, and the other nominees are committed to serving the people of Lake County. I am very proud of their continued efforts and devotion.”

Undersheriff Ray Rose said, “We congratulate all of today’s nominees for their service and dedication to the community. Thank you to the Waukegan Exchange Club for recognizing the hard work and dedication of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.”
