[ARCHIVED] Beach Park Domestic Battery Arrest

On April 8, 2017 at approximately 7:00PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the 37600 block of North Lake Crest Street, Beach Park, for a domestic battery.

The victim met with sheriff’s deputies outside of the North Lake Crest Street residence. It was determined Silvestre J. Martinez, Jr., 24, (of the same address), battered the victim inside the residence. Sheriff’s deputies attempted to speak with Martinez at the residence, however, he refused to come out and threatened to shoot anybody who came inside. Sheriff’s deputies spoke with Martinez for over an hour, however, he continued his refusal to come outside.

Sheriff’s deputies left the scene due to safety concerns. An arrest warrant for Martinez was obtained on April 10, 2017. The warrant was for two counts of domestic battery (class A misdemeanors), two counts of aggravated assault (class A misdemeanors), and one count of battery (class A misdemeanor). A Lake County Judge set bond on the warrant at $100,000.00.

Later in the day on April 10, 2017, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team apprehended Martinez at his residence. Martinez initially refused to exit his home after being advised of the arrest warrant, however, after approximately two hours of speaking with negotiators, Martinez surrendered.

He was subsequently transported to the Lake County Jail and will appear in court on April 11, 2017 at 9:00AM, in courtroom C-120. Additional charges are possible.

Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
