On April 6, 2017 at approximately 2:00PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Route 120 west of Wilson Road, unincorporated Round Lake, for a traffic crash with injuries. When sheriff’s deputies arrived they located a head-on crash involving a car and semi-truck.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 1998 Ford Contour, driven by a 50 year-old woman, of Lake Zurich, was traveling eastbound on Route 120, west of Wilson Road. A 2016 Freightliner semi-truck (with an empty trailer), driven by a 64 year-old man, of St Louis, Missouri, was traveling westbound on Route 120 in the same area.
For an unknown reason, the driver of the Ford drifted into the westbound lanes of traffic, striking the Freightliner head-on. The driver of the Ford was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, in critical condition. A 16 year-old passenger in the Ford, of Lake Zurich, was also transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in serious condition. The driver of the Freightliner was transported to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
