[ARCHIVED] Super Bowl Weekend Traffic Safety Results

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office today announced results for its 2017 Super Bowl weekend Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket enforcement activity, which ran from February 3 – 5, 2017. Sheriff’s deputies logged an additional 45 hours during the enforcement campaign which resulted in two DUI arrests. Additionally, 14 seat belt citations, 23 speeding tickets were issued, for a total of 68 citations.

“Motorists should continue to heed the warning that we are serious about cracking down on impaired drivers and seat belt law violators. We do it to save lives,” said Sheriff Mark Curran.

Undersheriff Ray Rose added, “While Super Bowl weekend is over, you’ll continue to see sheriff’s deputies out on our roadways, looking for and arresting impaired drivers.”

The recent law enforcement traffic safety effort was made possible by federal highway safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
