On January 28, 2017 at approximately 5:19PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 200 block of Terra Firma Lane, Volo, for a domestic disturbance. When sheriff’s deputies arrived they found the aggressor, Arthur A. Cal, 35, of Volo, was intoxicated and armed with a knife.
As sheriff’s deputies began communicating with Cal, he began waving the knife and said, “Come and get me.” Cal then retreated to a different area of the home away from the deputies. A sheriff’s deputy opened the door of the room Cal retreated to, however, Cal slammed the door shut on the deputy in an effort to block the deputy from making entry. A second sheriff’s deputy gained entry to the room and found Cal was still armed with the knife. Cal refused to put the knife down and a Taser was deployed. Deputies were able to successfully apprehend Cal without injury to him or sheriff’s deputies.
Cal was subsequently charged with three counts of aggravated assault (class 4 felonies). He remains held in the Lake County Jail on $20,000.00 bail. Cal is next due in court on January 31, 2017 at 9:00AM in courtroom C-120.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
