[ARCHIVED] Sheriff’s Deputy Performs CPR and Saves Life

On January 27, 2017 at approximately 8:38PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 20000 block of West Rollins Road, Unincorporated Lake Villa, to assist paramedics with an unconscious 60 year-old woman.

Deputy Michael Bassi arrived at the scene and found the woman fell out of her wheelchair, had no pulse and was not breathing. Deputy Bassi immediately began CPR and deployed his Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Deputy Bassi administered an AED ‘shock’ to the woman and continued CPR. The woman regained a pulse and began breathing.

Grayslake Paramedics arrived and transported the woman to Advocate Condell Medical Center in stable condition.

Sheriff Mark Curran said, “Thanks to Deputy Bassi’s quick and decisive actions a life was saved. I couldn’t be more proud of Deputy Bassi and thankful he successfully saved a person’s life.”

Undersheriff Ray Rose said, “This is another example of a life being saved by a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy and exactly why we place such a major emphasis on training. Deputy Bassi saved someone’s life because of his acquired skills and quick actions.”
