On January 8, 2017 at approximately 12:35PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a property damage crash, without injuries, at Rollins Road and North Wilson Road, Ingleside.
Deputy Robert Skrypek was the first sheriff’s deputy on the scene and found the driver of one of the vehicles unconscious and unresponsive. After a rapid assessment, Deputy Skrypek developed information the 31 year-old male driver was overdosing on opioids. Deputy Skrypek administered two doses of Naloxone, but was met with negative results. Deputy Skrypek then began administering CPR on the driver, and a second deputy who arrived on the scene, Deputy Lorne White, administered two more doses of Naloxone. The driver regained consciousness, became alert, and began speaking. He was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated.
Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office have saved over 25 lives to opioid overdose, through the use of Naloxone.
