As part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was out this holiday season working to save lives by keeping drunk drivers off the roadways.
From December 16, 2016 through January 1, 2017, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested three drunk drivers. Additionally, 34 citations were issued for those not wearing seatbelts. A total of 77 citations were issued during the traffic safety campaign effort.
“The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is doing our part to keep drunk drivers off the roads,” Sheriff Mark Curran said. “Driving intoxicated has serious and potentially fatal consequences, and we hope those who consume alcohol designate a sober driver or find alternate means of transportation.”
“Too often, the holiday season turns tragic due to the careless actions of drunk drivers,” Undersheriff Ray Rose said. “No one should ever drive impaired. After consuming alcohol, hand the keys to a sober driver to avoid a senseless tragedy.”
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will continue traffic safety efforts with additional late night traffic details during the month of January.
