On December 17, 2016 at approximately 2:41PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a traffic crash with injuries in the area of North Delany Road, just south of North Mauser Drive, in Wadsworth. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they located two vehicles with extensive damage.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 52 year-old male from North Chicago, was traveling southbound on Delany Road. A 1995 Dodge Ram, driven by a 61 year-old male from Beach Park, was traveling northbound on Delany Road. For reasons unknown at this time, the driver of the southbound Chevrolet crossed the double-yellow lines and began to drive southbound in the northbound lanes of traffic. The Chevrolet collided head-on with the northbound Dodge.

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported via ambulance to Vista East Hospital in Waukegan, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Dodge was transported via ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
