On December 8, 2016, at approximately 6:15PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were on the scene of a traffic crash (without injuries) on Route 120 at Fairfield Road, Unincorporated Round Lake. Prior to the arrival of sheriff’s deputies, a family member of one of the driver’s arrived and parked their vehicle on Fairfield Road just north of Route 120. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, a 30 year-old female of Round Lake, waited in their family member’s car.

A short time later, the driver who was waiting in their family member’s car, exited the car and crossed Route 120 on foot. While crossing Route 120, she was struck by an eastbound Nissan Versa, driven by a 33 year-old male, of McHenry.

The pedestrian was transported to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. The occupants of the Nissan Versa were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
