On October 31, 2016, at approximately 9:00PM, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of North Jackson Street and Low Avenue, Waukegan, for a traffic violation. The passenger inside the vehicle was identified as documented street gang member Larry Myers, Jr., 39, of Waukegan.
During the course of the traffic stop, Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force Detectives determined Myers was in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun. Myers was arrested and transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Myers was subsequently charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (class 2 felonies), unlawful possession of a weapon by a street gang member (class 2 felony), and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon (class 2 felony).
Myers is currently being held in the Lake County Jail on $75,000.00 bail. His next court date is December 1, 2016, at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
