On October 30, 2016, at approximately 2:00AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 25900 block of West Hermann Avenue, Unincorporated Antioch, for a report of a suspicious person. The 911 caller indicated a man was outside of her home, pounding on the garage door. The man walked to the backyard and began yelling. He then walked away, just prior to the arrival of sheriff’s deputies.
The first responding sheriff’s deputy heard a male voice screaming in the distance. Lake County Sheriff’s Canine Dax and his handler, Deputy John Forlenza, arrived at the scene. Canine Dax began tracking the scent of the subject through several yards before locating him near the front door of a residence in the 26500 block of Grass Lake Road, Unincorporated Antioch. The man, identified as Gregory A. Koch, 25, of Unincorporated Antioch, claimed he lived at the residence, however further investigation revealed he did not.
The homeowner on Grass Lake Road said Koch unlawfully entered a garage on his property. Koch was placed under arrest without further incident. He was transported to the Lake County Jail, and was charged with criminal trespass to property (class B misdemeanor) and disorderly conduct (class C misdemeanor). Koch was processed and released on a $1,500.00 Recognizance Bond.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
