On October 24, 2016, at approximately 10:15PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a traffic crash with injuries in the area of West North Avenue and Burning Bush Lane, Unincorporated Antioch. When sheriff’s deputies arrived they located a 2011 Chevrolet HHR with major damage.

Preliminary investigation shows the Chevrolet, driven by Megan E. Rail, 26, of Round Lake Beach, was traveling westbound on North Avenue in the area of Burning Bush Lane. For an unknown reason, Rail lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. Rail was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Crash investigators responded to the scene and continue to investigate if drugs, alcohol, and/or speed were a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
