The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) is hereby requesting public comments by November 25, 2016 on a proposed 10.5-acre wetland mitigation bank in unincorporated Newport Township, Lake County, Illinois. The proposed mitigation bank, which is currently agricultural cropland, would restore approximately 8.7 acres of wetlands and 1.8 acres of prairie buffer. Wetland mitigation credits generated from the bank would be used to offset future losses of isolated wetlands in Lake County due to development impacts.
