Voter registration will be available in all precinct polling locations on Election Day, November 8.
On October 4, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals stayed the previous U.S. District Court order enjoining Election Day In-Precinct Registration -- which means the law can return to being implemented as written:
Counties with a population of 100,000 or more and/or counties with a population of 100,000 or less but with electronic poll books are required to provide voters with the option of registering at polling places on Election Day.
Also at that time the Appellate Court considered whether or not to expedite the appeal of the original case. On Friday, October 7, the Court issued its order denying the Plaintiff’s request to expedite. The appeal will not be heard or decided until after November 8. Accordingly, absent a successful appeal there will be no change to implementation of the current law.
