On September 6, 2016, at approximately 3:46PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Fairfield Road south of Bonner Road, Unincorporated Wauconda, for a traffic crash with injuries. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they located two vehicles with extensive damage.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling southbound on Fairfield Road south of Bonner Road. A 1998 Chevrolet Flatbed Tow Truck, which was towing a van, was traveling northbound on Fairfield Road in the same area. For an unknown reason, the driver of the 2002 Nissan crossed the double yellow center-line, and struck the northbound Chevrolet Tow Truck.

The driver of the Nissan was transported to Condell Hospital with critical injuries. The driver and passenger in the Chevrolet Tow Truck were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
