On July 22, 2023, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Marine Unit Deputies were dispatched to Lake Catherine, located in unincorporated Antioch, for a report of a man who jumped into the water and did not resurface.

Preliminary investigation shows a 52-year-old man of Mount Prospect, jumped off of a pontoon boat, being operated by his adult son, to swim.  He briefly resurfaced, but then fell below the water surface and was not seen again.  

Sheriff’s marine unit boats and area fire department boats have been searching the lake with sonar, but thus far, have not been able to locate the man.  The water in the area they are searching is approximately 30 feet deep.
