The Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued 52 citations for distracted driving law violations during April’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign. Sheriff’s deputies also had the following activity during this traffic safety campaign:
16 citations for speeding
7 citations for operating an uninsured vehicle
7 citations for other traffic offenses
3 arrests for driving without a valid driver’s license
1 warrant arrest for failure to appear in court
The Sheriff’s Office joined forces with the Illinois State Police, local law enforcement, and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort.
The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
