December 1st and through December 22nd, the Lake County Treasurer’s Office will be accepting prepayments for tax year 2022 (payable in calendar year 2023).
“Lake County residents want more flexibility in their payment options, and this would help them budget their family's resources. To give Lake County residents another option, our office will encourage prepayments. This is great for people who want to reduce their first installment amount, or for those who want to take advantage of a tax payment during calendar year 2022,” said Treasurer Holly Kim.
While the Treasurer’s Office is not required to take prepayments, it does allow for prepayments as a courtesy to residents. Prepayment amounts are limited to a maximum of 50% of the tax amount from the previous year's tax bill.
Here are three different ways you can pay:
- Pay the first installment and second installment as usual.
- Make a prepayment in December, and then your payments in June and in September.
- Pay half in December and then, six months later in June, you can knock out your tax bill.
Prepayment can only be made by check. Write "prepayment" in the memo field and include your PIN (Parcel ID number). For more information, please contact the Treasurer’s Office at (847) 377-2323 or e-mail [email protected].
