On October 11, 2022, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Route 41 near Washington Avenue, Unincorporated Lake Bluff, for a motorcycle crash with injuries. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found a motorcyclist deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation shows a Suzuki motorcycle, driven by a 31-year-old man of Great Lakes, was traveling northbound on Route 41. Traffic in front of the motorcycle began to slow, however the operator of the motorcycle was unable to slow in time. The motorcycle struck the rear of a Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 40-year-old woman of Lake Bluff. This impact with the Chevrolet caused the motorcyclist to be thrown forward from the motorcycle. The motorcyclist slid underneath a trailer being pulled by a Peterbilt Semi, driven by a 59-year-old man of Mundelein, which was traveling in front of the Chevrolet. The motorcyclist was run over by the wheels of the trailer.
The drivers of the Chevrolet and Peterbilt were uninjured.
Witnesses reported the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy is being scheduled.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
