On July 18, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Advocate Good Shephard Hospital, 450 West Route 22, unincorporated Barrington, for a report of a person who left the hospital during treatment.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived and learned a 61-year-old female of Lake in the Hills, was being treated in the emergency department and left on foot prior to being discharged. There were concerns about the person’s mental state and sheriff’s deputies immediately attempted to locate her.
While searching the immediate area, sheriff’s deputies were joined by friends and family of the missing person. Sheriff’s Canine Duke led deputies to the retention bond on the south end of the hospital property. A sheriff’s drone was deployed, and the drone pilot located the person unresponsive in the water.
Fire personnel recovered the person and began life-saving measures, however, she was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The Lake Coroner’s Office responded, and an autopsy is being scheduled. Foul play does not appear to be a factor, however, the incident remains under investigation by Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives.
