This notice is for those taxpayers who received excess funds when an automatic payment of first installment property taxes was reversed.
On June 6, 2022, the payment file we submitted for property tax payments on parcels you own mistakenly had the full year of taxes instead of just the first installment. We immediately reversed the file by depositing the mistaken amount back in your account. Because in some cases the bank did not pay the original amount, the end result was that you had an excess amount deposited in your bank account.
Last week, the excess amount was electronically transferred back. At that point, your account should be at net zero: the mistaken amount was not charged, and our deposited was transferred out.
All that remains is the payment of your first installment of property taxes. We will be withdrawing the amount of the first installment only on Friday, July 1, 2022. You are not considered late, and there will be no penalty. Your first installment will be paid in full, considered on time, and you will not need to take any action until we pull the automatic payment for the second installment in September.
If you paid the first installment using a different method, we will not be pulling the payment again. If you have any questions about the payment, please contact us via email at [email protected]; or call (847) 377-2323.
Again, we apologize for the situation. We have worked diligently to make sure that the situation is fixed with no penalty to you. We have also taken steps to avoid this situation in the future. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
