On July 22, 2016, at approximately 8:56PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 41600 block of North Lotus Avenue, Unincorporated Antioch, for a report of a missing person.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 46-year-old man, of Gurnee, was missing. Shortly before being reported missing, the man was involved in a traffic crash, where it’s believed he was ejected from his vehicle. He then fled from the crash without seeking medical aid. Following the crash, he arrived at a friend’s house in the 41600 block of North Lotus Avenue, Unincorporated Antioch, where he had obvious signs of injury.
The man requested his friends not call 911 for medical assistance, but due to his injured condition, they made the call for help. The injured man then fled on foot. Sheriff’s deputies spent nearly 12-hours attempting to locate him. At approximately 9:45AM on July 23rd, sheriff’s deputies located him at a residence on North Lotus Avenue, where he was sleeping.
An ambulance was requested for the man and he was transported to a local hospital with injuries from the crash, as well as other medical conditions.
Sheriff Mark Curran said, “Our sheriff’s deputies worked through the night and morning hours to locate this man, who was in obvious need of medical attention.” Undersheriff Ray Rose added, “It’s very possible without being located, this man could have faced a very grave outcome.”
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the initial traffic crash.
