On May 12, 2022, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Green Bay Road and Johns Manville Avenue, Unincorporated Waukegan, for a traffic crash with injuries. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and located two vehicles with extensive damage.
Preliminary investigation shows a Ford F150 Pickup, driven by a 43-year-old man of Streamwood, was traveling southbound on Green Bay Road in the area of Johns Manville Avenue. The driver of the Ford crossed the double-yellow median markings in the center of the road, and drove into the northbound lanes of traffic. The Ford struck a northbound Toyota Camry head-on, driven by a 58-year-old woman of Waukegan.
A front-seat passenger in the Toyota (identification pending, unknow age/hometown) was killed in the crash. The driver and a third occupant in the Toyota (identification pending, unknow age/hometown) were transported via ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was also transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and will conduct an autopsy on the decedent today.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
