[ARCHIVED] Two Teens Robbed in Unincorporated Lake Villa While Playing Pokémon Go

On July 14, 2016, at approximately 10:08 PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Morton Drive and Carol Lane in Unincorporated Lake Villa for an armed robbery. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and determined two teenage brothers were robbed of their cellular phones.

Further investigation revealed the two teens were in the area playing Pokémon Go. While walking, a vehicle described as a dark-colored older model four-door parked in their vicinity. Two subjects exited the vehicle and approached the teens. Both subjects were described as being in their early 20’s. One was a male white with ‘spikey’ hair the other is described as a male black, not wearing a shirt, with dreadlocks.

The male black subject displayed a firearm and took the cellular phone of one of the teens. The male white took the cellular phone of the other teen. The subjects then fled in their vehicle. Neither teen was hurt during the robbery.
