The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will participate in ‘National Child Passenger Safety Week’ from September 17 through September 30, 2021. This will include additional deputies focused on enforcing child passenger safety laws to help ensure the safety of young children traveling on our community.
“Ensuring children are properly restrained while riding in a vehicle is imperative to their safety,” said Sheriff John D. Idleburg. “Please, always verify your car seats are installed correctly and children riding in the vehicle are properly restrained, before venturing out in your vehicle.”
The focus of Child Passenger Safety Week is to raise awareness and encourage all parents and caregivers to ensure their children are riding in appropriate car seats based on age and size. Proper installation is also key to making sure the seats are effective in protecting children.
The campaign is funded by federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
