The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with law enforcement throughout the state to stop impaired driving, as we approach and during the Labor Day holiday.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “Impaired driving kills more than 10,000 people in the United States each year. Please plan ahead for a safe ride home before you leave the house.”
The high-visibility traffic safety campaign will run from August 20 – September 7, 2021. During this period, sheriff’s deputies will focus their efforts on arresting impaired drivers and ensuring seat-belts are utilized by occupants, especially at night when seat-belt usage rates are at their lowest.
The Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign is made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
