On May 22, 2021 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a traffic crash with injuries, involving a motorcycle, on Route 83 at Endwood Drive, Long Grove.
Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found the operator of the motorcycle, a 25-year-old man of Hawthorn Woods, had been ejected and sustained significant injuries.
Preliminary investigation shows the motorcycle operator was traveling northbound on Route 83 at a high rate of speed. Witnesses reported the operator was driving recklessly and weaving in and out of traffic. As the operator approached Endwood Drive, he struck the rear-end of a northbound Honda Accord, driven by a 72-year-old, man of Prospect Heights. The motorcycle operator, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and sustained serious injuries.
The motorcycle operator was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville via ambulance with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries, but was not transported to the hospital.
