The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) – Downers Grove Field Office & Chicago Field Office, concluded a narcotics investigation which resulted in the arrest of a drug dealer and the seizure of a firearm.
On Friday, April 23, 2021, following the investigation, Lake County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Group Detectives obtained a search warrant for the apartment of Anthony L. Brown, 38, of the 100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, Lake Villa. Brown is a documented street gang member and currently on bond from a 2020 arrest made by the Lake County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Group.
During the search warrant, Brown was found to be in possession of nearly three kilograms of powder cocaine and a semiautomatic firearm.
After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the case, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges for Brown:
Manufacturing/Delivery of More than 900 Grams of Cocaine (Class X Felony)
Unlawful Possession of More than 900 Grams of Cocaine (Class X Felony)
Felon in Possession of a Firearm (Class 2 Felony)
Brown remains held in the Lake County Jail on $750,000.00 bail. He is next due in court on April 30, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom T020.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “We have zero tolerance for those who traffic drugs in our community. This case was the culmination of great teamwork between the members serving in our Special Investigations Group and our federal partners, which will prevent nearly three kilos of cocaine from making it into our community.”
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
