Sheriff John D. Idleburg announces that during the recent Super Bowl traffic safety campaign, sheriff’s deputies arrested one individual for being wanted on a DUI warrant and another for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Additionally, sheriff’s deputies issued 11 citations for drivers who either did not have a driver’s license or were driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license. 26 speeding citations and 21 failure to wear seatbelt citations were issued.
The Super Bowl weekend Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket enforcement effort ran from February 5, 2021 through the early morning hours of February 8, 2021, to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure more people buckle up and follow all traffic safety laws.
The recent law enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
