On September 25, 2020, at approximately 4:45PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Route 137 and I-94, Green Oaks, for a traffic crash with injuries. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and determined two cars and one motorcycle were involved in the crash.
Preliminary investigation shows a 2019 Chevrolet Sonic, driven by a 76-year-old male of Fox Lake, was traveling eastbound on Route 137. The driver of the Chevrolet attempted a U-turn or attempted to turn left onto I-94.
A 2007 Ford Five Hundred, driven by a 63-year-old female of Libertyville, was traveling westbound on Route 137 at the same location. The front of the Ford struck the passenger side of the Chevrolet. A 2013 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, driven by a 32-year-old male of Wauconda was directly behind the Ford. To avoid an impact with a vehicle, the motorcycle operator dropped his motorcycle and slid on the ground.
A front-seat passenger in the Chevrolet, a 74-year-old female of Fox Lake, sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. The driver of the Ford was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries. The driver of the Harley-Davidson was treated and released at the scene with minor injuries.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and is in the process of scheduling an autopsy.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
