Nationally in 2018, a total of 10,511 people were killed in drunk driving crashes, making up nearly one-third of all traffic fatalities that year. More than 10,000 people have died as a result of impaired driving each of the last 4 years in the United States.
Sheriff John Idleburg said, “I cannot say it enough, please don’t drive while intoxicated. It is simply not worth killing an innocent person or losing your own life. Driving intoxicated puts everyone on the roadway at risk!”
The statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns are made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
