On September 2, 2020, at approximately 2:35PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Route 22 and Old McHenry Road, Long Grove, for a traffic crash with injuries.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived and located a single-vehicle crash. The driver, a 19-year-old male of Chicago Heights, was traveling southbound on Old McHenry Road north of Route 22, lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree on the west side of the roadway. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by Long Grove Firefighters.
Witnesses reported the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to losing control. He was initially transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Unincorporated Barrington with critical injuries. His condition was later upgraded to serious but stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
