On July 26, 2020, at approximately 9:30PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 22500 block of West Lake Cook Road, Deer Park, for a domestic battery in progress.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived and met with the victim, a 39-year-old, who resides at the same residence. The victim had a serious wound to his head.
Preliminary investigation shows the victim’s girlfriend, Bophanary Om, 39, who resides at the same residence, became upset that the victim urinated in the bed. She responded by retrieving a machete and striking the victim on the head with the machete.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he is expected to recover.
After reviewing the facts of the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges:
Aggravated Domestic Battery (Class 2 Felony)
Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Class 3 Felony)
Two Counts of Domestic Battery (Class A Misdemeanors)
Om remains held in the Lake County Jail on $30,000.00 bail. She is next due in court on August 25, 2020, at 9:00AM in courtroom T110.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
