[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Gages Lake

On May 27, 2016, at approximately 2:43PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Gages Lake Road at Almond Road, Gages Lake, for a traffic crash with injuries, involving a pedestrian. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they located a 12 year-old girl with critical injuries, who was struck by a pick-up truck.

Preliminary investigation, which includes numerous witness statements, indicates at the time of the crash, the traffic light was green for traffic on Gages Lake Road. The 12-year-old girl was walking southbound, crossing Gages Lake Road. The driver of the Chevrolet Pick-Up truck was traveling eastbound on Gages Lake Road, and was unable to avoid striking the girl. The girl was struck by the front-end of the pick-up truck.

The girl was initially transported to Condell Hospital in Libertyville, and later flown to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, with critical injuries.

The investigation is on-going by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
