On May 27, 2020, at approximately 10:20PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Green Bay Road and Chaplin Avenue, Beach Park, for a traffic crash with injuries.  Sheriff’s deputies arrived and located a head-on traffic crash with significant injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2013 Nissan Altima, driven by a 33-year-old man of Waukegan, was traveling northbound on Green Bay Road approaching Chaplin Avenue.  A 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by 27-year-old male of Waukegan, was traveling southbound on Green Bay Road, in the same area.  For an unknown reason, the driver of the Nissan crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic striking the Chevrolet head-on.  

A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 27-year-old female of North Chicago, was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected out of the front windshield.  

The driver of the Nissan was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical, life-threatening injuries.  

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan with serious injuries.  The passenger who was partially ejected from the Chevrolet was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with serious injuries.  Another passenger in the Chevrolet, a 35-year-old male of Waukegan, was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with minor injuries.  

Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
