Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested four people for driving under the influence and issued a total of 152 citations during the recent Memorial Day traffic safety campaign. Deputies cited five people for driving with a suspended/revoked driver’s licenses, issued 16 citations for individuals operating vehicles without insurance, and issued 54 speeding citations.
Sheriff John Idleburg said, “We’ve recently seen an increase in people excessively speeding and driving recklessly. Our deputies will be out throughout the summer months ensuring those who take to our roadways can travel safely. Please do your part and follow all traffic laws.”
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office partnered with statewide law-enforcement during the campaign which ran from May 16 through May 26, 2020.
The campaign is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal highway safety funds.
