On May 19, 2020, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF), concluded an investigation which resulted in the apprehension of Patrick H. Tillman, 30, of the 24300 block of West Old Oak Drive, Unincorporated Mundelein.
Tillman had an active arrest warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 out of Houston, Texas (no bond). During Houston Police Department’s investigation, Tillman fled the Houston area and traveled to Hawaii and New York for periods of time. Houston officials issued the arrest warrant on April 7, 2020. The victim’s mother contacted the Lake Zurich Police Department with information she developed indicating Tillman might be in the Lake Zurich area with extended family.
Lake Zurich Police began investigating and developed information Tillman may be residing in Unincorporated Mundelein, so the information was passed along to the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team.
Members of the Sheriff’s Warrants Team conducted a fugitive apprehension investigation and found Tillman was likely living with his wife at a residence in the 24300 block of West Old Oak Drive, Unincorporated Mundelein. Warrants deputies conducted surveillance at the residence and determined Tillman was indeed living there. On May 19, 2020, they made entry into Tillman’s residence and arrested him without incident.
Tillman was transported to the Lake County Jail and remains held pending an initial court hearing this morning.
Sheriff John Idleburg said, “Whether in a pandemic or ordinary time, our warrants team will take all measures to apprehend those wanted for violent crimes and crimes against children. This is an example of great law-enforcement collaboration between the Lake Zurich Police Department after receiving a tip and working with our warrants team, resulting in the apprehension of someone charged with a horrific crime.”
While arresting Tillman, warrants deputies also located Barry E. Metz, 64, of the 0-100 block of Pine Circle, Cary, who was wanted for violation of a court order. Metz was issued a Notice to Appear on June 22, 2020 at 9:00AM in Lake County Court and released at the scene.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
