On May 4, 2016, the Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force concluded a long-term operation, which resulted in the arrest of Jonathan Nieto, 33, of the 600 block of Bluff Street, Waukegan.
During the operation, Nieto agreed to sell an undercover Lake County Sheriff’s Office Gang Task Force Detective one kilo of cocaine for over $30,000.00. Nieto was taken into custody without incident, at a location in Waukegan, after he arrived with the kilo of cocaine.
A search of Nieto’s residence revealed over 100 ounces of additional cocaine, a loaded semi-automatic pistol, and over $1,900.00 USC.
Nieto was subsequently charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Class X Felonies), two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 1 Felonies), Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony), and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor).
Nieto is currently being held in the Lake County Jail on $750,000.00 bail. He is next due in court on May 31, 2016 at 9:00AM in courtroom C-120.
